Ivermectin is an antiparasitic of the avermectin family with great activity on both internal and external parasites of domestic animals (endectocide). Ivermectin acts on nematodes and arthropods through gamma amino-butyric acid (GABA). It causes its release by the membrane presynaptic and potentiates its binding to receptors located on the postsynaptic membrane. GABA is a neurotransmitter involved in the transmission of messages inhibitors between the inter-neuron and the motor neuron in nematodes, and between the fiber nerve and muscle cell in arthropods.

At recommended doses, ivermectin is very well tolerated in both adult and young animals and can be used at all stages of gestation. Ivermectin is not active against fluke and tapeworms.
