Oxytocin 2000 IU

Indications:
Oxytocin Microsules is a synthetic hormone that stimulates the smooth muscles of the uterus during labor and contracts the glandular alveoli and lactiferous ducts of the mammary gland afterward.
It is indicated for labor induction, uterine atony, uterine involution, agalactia, expulsion of exudates in chronic pyometritis, retained placenta, and to promote milk ejection as a complementary treatment in cases of mastitis.
Target animal species:
Cows, mares, sheep, goats, pigs, dogs and cats.
Route of administration:
Intramuscular or subcutaneous, with aseptic measures for the administration of injectables.
Dose:
Each ml of the product contains 20 IU of Oxytocin.
Recommended doses
Obstetrics: Pigs, Sheep and Goats:
1.5 to 2.5 ml/animal (30 to 50 IU/animal).
Cows and Mares:
3.2 to 5 ml/cow (75 to 100 IU/cow).
Bitches:
0.25 to 0.5 ml/animal (5 – 10 IU/animal,
Cats:
0.025 to 0.3 ml/animal (0.5 – 3 IU/animal).
To facilitate milk ejection:
Sows, Sheep, and Goats:
0.25 to 1 ml/animal (5 to 20 IU/animal).
Cows and Mares:
0.5 to 1 ml/cow (10 to 20 IU/cow).
Dogs:
0.1 to 0.5 ml/animal,
Cats:
0.1 ml/animal.
The dose may be repeated after 30 minutes, if the attending professional deems it necessary.
Precautions:
It is contraindicated in dystocia due to uncorrected abnormal presentation of the fetus(es), in females with cardiovascular disease, or in those with a risk of uterine rupture. Use with caution in cases of toxemia.
